When I started a couple of decades ago, I would see anyone in therapy. My motto was \u201cjust show up\u201d or \u201cjust show up as you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The last few years \u2013 and probably just recently \u2013 I\u2019ve realized that I can\u2019t work with people that are completely deluded. I don\u2019t mean people hearing voices and believing in aliens. No, actually delusions that are destructive and totally unbelievable.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll list them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump won the election.<\/li>\n<li>The January 6<sup>th<\/sup> insurrection was staged.<\/li>\n<li>There are too many gun laws \u2013 as in \u201cguns don\u2019t kill people \u2013 people kill people.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Science, logic, cause and effect and common sense aren\u2019t real.<\/li>\n<li>Present climate change is natural, not man made.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m still enthusiastic about psychotherapy, healing, and creating a better world. I just want to see some results \u2013 however small \u2013 and it takes some grounding in reality to make that happen. Reality I can work with \u2013 however painful. Delusions are just that \u2013 weird phenomenon that appear workable \u2013 but never are.<\/p>\n<p>But enough for now. There will be more next month.
